Anderhalf jaar geleden deden de Londenaren voor het laatst zaken met de Amsterdammers, toen Davinson Sánchez voor een recordbedrag naar de Engelse hoofdstad vertrok, en misschien is er nu wel een nieuwe transfer op komst.
De transferwaarde van Van de Beek wordt overigens geschat op een slordige 20 miljoen euro, maar het is de verwachting dat directeur spelerszaken Marc Overmars wat hoger in de boom gaat zitten voor de Ajacied. Mogelijk vraagt hij zelfs 40 miljoen euro voor de international van het Nederlands elftal en in het huidige transferklimaat is dat niet eens zo gek.
